Traditional Series: Irish Masters

7:30 PM – 9 pm | Sept. 30. An Irish extravaganza, John Doyle’s Irish-American Music Masters, five wonderful musicians with shared Irish/American roots, led by the Grammy-nominated John Doyle. $25. Tuesday, Oct. 1

Davidson’s National Night Out

5-7 pm | Oct. 1. National Night Out (NNO) is an annual crime prevention and community-building event sponsored by the Davidson Police Department to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-resident partnerships, and neighborhood cohesiveness. This year’s event promises a festive atmosphere with music, family-friendly activities, educational opportunities for residents of all ages, food, and feature a special EV Village with a variety of electric vehicles on display, including the Davidson Police Department’s new F150 Ford Lightning. There is no cost for the public to attend. Parking will be available yet limited; residents are encouraged to walk or ride their bikes to the event. Ada Jenkins Center, 212 Gamble St., Davidson.

Ben Sollee Trio

7:30 pm | Oct. 4. Kentuckian Ben Sollee — cellist, songwriter and storyteller  — has toured the globe performing his original music. Tickets: $25-45. Cain Center for the Arts, Catawba Ave.

Film Screening: Cine Casual and WDAV Present Los Hermanos

7:30-10 pm | Oct. 4. In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Cine Casual and WDAV Classical Public Radio have partnered to present a free outdoor screening of the award-winning documentary Los Hermanos. Renowned violinist Ilmar Gavilán, one of the two classical musician brothers featured in Los Hermanos, will be a special guest joining WDAV General Manager Frank Dominguez for a pre-film Q&A and live solo performance during the pre-screening program. A native of Havana, Cuba, Gavilán is a founding member of the Grammy award-winning Harlem Quartet. The film features virtuoso Afro-Cuban-born brothers—violinist Ilmar and pianist Aldo—live on opposite sides of a geopolitical chasm a half-century wide. Tracking their parallel lives in New York and Havana, their reunion, and their first performances together, Los Hermanos/The Brothers offers a nuanced, often startling view of estranged nations through the lens of music and family. Live Under The Oaks

6-8 pm | Oct. 4. Unwind with live musical performance. No coolers are allowed on property. A bar will be onsite in the designated area provided by Red Rocks for beverage needs. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Seating space may be limited. The Plaza, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Symphony Under the Stars

7 pm | Oct. 4. Featuring the Lake Norman Philharmonic. Maestro Eduardo Cedeño and the talented musicians of the Lake Norman Philharmonic will take the stage, performing classical and contemporary masterpieces. Food trucks and beer vendors will be ready to serve at 6:30 pm. Liberty Park in Downtown Mooresville.

Ghost Hunt

6:30-9:30 pm | Oct. 4. Take part in an authentic ghost hunt of the building and grounds (weather permitting) using real investigative tools led by members of the Charlotte Area Paranormal Society (CAPS). Blessing of the Animals

10:30 am service | Oct. 6. Food and music from about 11:45 am. St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church will host its annual “Blessing of the Animals” at the church’s outdoor lawn stage in honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals and the environment. The entire community – but especially pets – are welcome in celebrating this special day with a service that recognizes our beloved companion animals. Lake Norman Humane will be on-site with a furry friend or two available for adoption. Whether you’re looking to adopt a new pet or simply want to support our local animal rescue efforts, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved and contribute.
