Here’s what is happening this week.

Nov. 21

2022 Lake Norman Big Band

Tickets are $25 per person. New Victory Lanes, 125 Morlake Drive, Mooresville.

Nov. 22

Annual Community-wide Interfaith Thanksgiving service

6:45 pm prelude; 7-9 pm service | Nov. 22. The service  also features Indigenous leaders. Native nonprofits and artisans will have tables in the narthex. Small groups, poetry, prayer, music, story-telling and more to help attendees explore history and current realities. Register here to attend – in-person or virtually. Little Rock A.M.E. Mooresville Christmas Parade

3-6 pm Nov. 22 | Family fun with floats, the Grinch and Santa. Main Street, downtown Mooresville.

Thanksgiving Parade

5:30 pm | Nov. 23. The 76th annual Novant Health Thanksgiving Parade in uptown Charlotte. General admission is free. VIP tickets, which guarantee seating between Third Street and Levine Avenue, are $35.

Angels & Sparrows Thanksgiving 5k

8 -11am | Nov. 24. Join the 11th Annual Thanksgiving Family 5k to Angels & Sparrows of Huntersville. The trot starts at 8 am from Fleet Feet Sports in Birkdale Village.This is a family fun 5k. Each registration is a $20 donation. Children under 6 are free. 

Davidson Turkey Trot 5k

Nov. 25

Chickadee Hill Farms 3rd Annual Tree Festival

4 pm | Nov. 25. Christmas lights, music, Santa, train, food, drinks and a chance to win a decorated Christmas tree. A portion of the proceeds go to Children’s Hope Alliance and Piedmont Animal Rescue. Chickadeel Hill Farms, 181 E Monbo Rd., Statesville.

Polar Express at the N.C. Transportation Museum

Check website for hours | Nov.  25-27, Dec. 2-4, Dec. 8-11, Dec. 13-23. Experience the magic of the popular holiday book/movie during this Polar Express-inspired train ride with a stop at the North Pole. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas to enjoy the experience. Tickets $34 and up. NC Transportation Museum, 1 Samuel Spencer Drive, Spencer.

“Holidays at the Garden”

5-9 pm Wednesdays – Sunday |Nov. 25 -Dec. 31. $20 for adults, $18 for seniors 60+, $10 for children 2-12, free for children under 2. Daniel Stowe Gardens, 6500 S. New Hope Rd., Belmont.

Nov. 26

Light Up Cornelius includes flipping the switch for the town tree.

11th Annual Light Up Cornelius 

4-7 pm | Nov. 26. Attendees can enjoy community group performances, children’s activities, horse-drawn carriages rides, a model train display, food and drink, s’mores, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. The tree lighting is around 6 pm. Cornelius Town Hall, 21445 Catawba Ave.

AmeriCarna LIVE Car Show

9 am – 3 pm Nov. 26. Hosted by Ray Evernham, NASCAR Hall of Fame crew chief and car owner, star of “Glory Road” and “AmeriCarna” television shows, and founder of IGNITE. Spectator tickets are $5; kids 10 and under are free. The event benefits IGNITE, the Autism Society’s community centers for young adults. Trane Technologies, 800 Beaty St., Davidson.

Christmas Market

11 am – 4 pm | Nov. 26. Shop more than 45 local businesses. Lost Worlds Brewery, 19700-D One Norman Blvd., Cornelius.

Concert

8 pm | Nov. 26. Blue Monday. Tickets are $15. BoatYard Lake Norman, 18418 Statesville Rd., Cornelius.

Photo fundraiser with the Grinch 

2 – 5 pm | Nov. 26. Holiday Market. Come and have a photo opportunity with the Grinch to feed the elderly in Huntersville and Cornelius a Christmas dinner. Donations accepted with a raffle and goodies to purchase to benefit the fundraiser.  Primal Brewery, 16432 Old Statesville Rd., Huntersville.

This Christmas experience features all the beloved Christmas hits you know and love – Beach music style on Nov. 26 in Mooresville.

Our Town Stage Indoor Concert Series 

Doors open 6 pm; show 7 pm| Nov. 26. The Embers Christmas Show. Tickets $24-$34. Joe V. Knox Auditorium in the Charles Mack Citizen Center, 215 N Main St., Mooresville.

Nov. 26-27

Holiday Market 

2-6 pm | Nov. 26-27. The Huntersville Holiday Market will run in conjunction with Shop Small Weekend with  a variety of artisan vendors, food and beverages. Santa will be onsite. Downtown Huntersville.

Nov. 27

HIV/STI testing

10 am – noon | Nov. 27. the Mecklenburg County Health Department is offering free, private and confidential HIV/STI testing. Condoms and education will be available. No insurance, no photo ID and no appointments needed. Ada Jenkins, 212 Gamble St., Davidson.

Mid-November through mid-February

Lights

6-10 pm | Daily. Explore a half-mile, self-guided walking trail showcasing illuminated installations representing the Whitewater story and mission. The elements populate the entire Ridge and Canyon of the Whitewater Center and culminate with a compelling view above the forest floor on an all new suspension bridge complex. Through Our Lens: Digital Art and Photography

A small group of digital artists and photographers from North Carolina  display their love for their art. Cornelius Art Gallery, 19725 Oak St.

Through Jan. 4

International Exhibition of the American Watercolor Society

Noon-4pm | Tuesday-Friday; 10am-2pm | Saturday. Forty watercolor paintings from today’s nationally known and internationally known masters will be on display in Mooresville Arts’ Center Gallery, 103 W. Center Ave., Mooresville. Many of the paintings will be for sale.

Men of Change art exhibit

Check websites for gallery schedules. | B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts+Culture  and Levine Museum of the New South to bring  Men of Change: Power. Triumph. Truth. The Gantt will display Storytellers, Fathering, and Imagining; Levine Museum will display Catalysts, Myth-Breakers, and Community; both museums in Charlotte will display Loving. Admission is free.
