Philip Hamrick: “The Tunnel Club” Album Release Celebration
7 pm doors; 8 pm show | May 31. The singer-songwriter from Mooresville releases his first album since 2016 with “The Tunnel Club,” his first solo record as an independent artist. Hamrick is at his story-telling best with the title track, taking you on a hitch-hiker’s journey through the South in the 1940s. Personal stories, love songs and investigations into the everlasting are woven seamlessly throughout – delivered with a sweet voice, warm acoustics, cinematic strings and just enough edge to keep you guessing. The historic Hugh Torance House and Store is the oldest-standing store in NC and one of Mecklenburg County’s few surviving 18th-century structures. The site is adjacent to Cedar Grove, the National Register brick 1831 Greek Revival home of James Torrance, son of Hugh and Isabella Torance. This is a free tour but donations are most welcome.
