Live Under the Oaks

Don’t Let Pigeon Drive the Bus — The Musical

11 am and 2 pm | April 5. Whatever you do, don’t let the Pigeon star in his own musical production. With a script written by Mo Willems, the creator of the  “Pigeon” picture books, and featuring music by Deborah Wicks La Puma (Elephant & Piggie’s We Are In a Play!), “Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus – The Musical!” is even more fun than staying up late and having a hot dog party.

Hop Into Spring

2-4 pm | April 5. Designed for children ages 3-10 years and their families, participants can enjoy an afternoon filled with fun, including arts and crafts, live music, face painting, a glitter tattoo artist, inflatables, a visit from Peter Cottontail and concessions. STEAM Day at Latta

10 am – 3 pm | April 5. Discover the wonders of science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics at STEAM Day at Latta. Join Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation’s Quest Nature Center and the Carolina Raptor Center at Latta Nature Preserve for this free day of learning for all ages. Latta Nature Preserve, 6345 Sample Rd., Huntersville.

Davidson College Star Party (Activity Fair, Guest Speaker, Star Gazing)

7-10 pm | April 5. Explore the wonders of astronomy and the night sky with your family and friends by joining the 2025 Statewide Star Party at Davidson College. The event will begin with interactive exhibits and games in the Blanche Knox Parker Esplanade between the Dana and Watson science buildings 6-8 pm. The exhibits will be followed by a public lecture in Hance Auditorium at 8 pm and nighttime stargazing on the campus lawn from 9-10:30 pm.  Feel free to stay for the entire event or spend just a short time exploring the exhibits or taking a tour of the night sky. Davidson College.

Lenten Retreat: Reclaiming Mary Magdalene

10 am – 3 pm | April 5. Beth Maczka, a Vanderbilt Divinity School graduate, centers her studies on Mary Magdalene and why she is absent from much of art and liturgy. She highlights the lack of images depicting this profound passage in Mark 14:9 and the need to commission art that depicts Gospel women in positions of authority, as noted in the Bible. Ultimately,Maczka invites us to celebrate Easter in its fullness, starting with anointing and ending with Mary Magdalene’s proclamation of the Resurrection when she becomes the Apostle to the Apostles. Davidson Egg Scramble & Spring Pop Up Market

10 am – noon  | April 5.  RSVP in age group required. You can enjoy the local vendors with the pop up Spring Market, live bunnies. Photos with the Easter Bunny, $5 donation; printed out photo, as well as a small craft with your donation. Village Green, downtown Davidson.

Rock the Boat
