Winter Trail

Check website for details. Explore the expanded Winter Trail with more lights and layh elements that are ready to be discovered throughout the canyon. This illuminated walking trail crosses two suspension bridges and features obstacles, play structures and discoveries for all ages. No pass or reservation required.$12 daily parking. Speedway Christmas

6-10 pm | through Jan. 5. The 15th season of the Southeast’s largest drive-thru holiday light show features more than 5 million lights on a four-mile course that includes the legendary oval, pit road and infield road course. Prices vary. Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Pkwy. S., Concord.

Monday, Dec. 30

Pilates Power Hour

6-6:45 pm | Dec. 30. Get ready to stretch, strengthen and rejuvenate at this free Pilates session, led by Katie Layman. Ages 16 and older. Registration is required and participants must sign a waiver to take part in the class. All fitness levels are welcome. New Year’s Eve Party

Wednesday, Jan. 1

First Footin’ at Rural Hill

10 am – noon | Jan. 1. This free event at the historic Rural Hill invites visitors to celebrate Hogmanay, a Scottish New Year’s celebration steeped in centuries of rich history. The event is free to attend, but registration is required, and donations are encouraged. Hogmanay is a time to bid farewell to the past year and welcome the new one with family and friends through a self-guided walk around the property. Historic Rural Hill, 4431 Neck Rd., Huntersville.

New Year’s Day Barefoot Tournament

Noon | Jan. 1. One of the longest running barefoot tournaments in the world, combining starts, tricks and endurance skills in one single ride. Lake Norman Marina, 6965 NC-150, Sherrills Ford.
