Friday, Sept. 6

Star Party

8-10 pm | Sept. 6. Come out to Lake Norman State Park to be amazed by the night sky. Piedmont Amateur Astronomers are coming out to the swim beach parking lot to show us the stars through their telescopes. There will  astronomy-based crafts will be available. Lake Norman State Park Swim Beach Area, 1412 State Park Rd., Troutman. In the event of rain, this event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7.

Garden Club: Caring for Kus (Catawba Corn) – Davidson College and Catawba Food Sovereignty

2-3 pm | Sept. 6. Halle Murphy and Dr. Rose Stremlau, two participants in Dútα Bαhiisere Kus Ráˀhere/We Know Corn Together, Davidson College’s collaboration with the Catawba Nation, will share information about this ongoing project. Must register. Cornelius Library, 21105 Catawba Ave., Cornelius.

Rock the Park

6 pm food trucks; 6:30 pm show | Sept. 6. Andrew Beam. The amphitheater has open lawn seating. Bring a chair, blanket and rock the park. Free. Liberty Park, 255 E. Iredell Ave., Downtown Mooresville.

Live Under The Oaks

6-8 pm | Sept. 6. Brett Milstead. No coolers are allowed on property. A bar will be onsite in the designated area provided by Red Rocks for beverage needs. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to sit on. Seating space may be limited. The Plaza, Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

45th Yiasou Greek Festival

11 am – 10 pm Sept. 6 – 7 and 11 am – 6 pm Sept. 8. Greek Festival features Hellenic cultural exhibits, authentic Greek cuisine and homemade pastries, entertainment, live music and dancing, wine tastings, art, shopping and more. Fall Festival

2024 Concerts @ the Circles

5- 6:30 pm, acoustic artist. 7-9  pm headliner | Sept 7. Shot Thru the Heart – Bon Jovi Tribute, Jetton Street near Clean Juice, 605 D, Davidson. 

Comedy

7:30 pm | Sept. 7. Tom Cotter has appeared on The Tonight ShowLast Comic Standing, and CBS’ The Late Late Show, among others. Tickets $25-$45. As a part of the opening evening’s celebration, Cain Center is holding a fundraising BBQ Patio Party from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. This event is a chance to have “Dinner and a Show” on site and proceeds will benefit the community mission of Cain Center. Tickets are $50 per person and a portion of this cost is considered a tax-deductible gift. Cain Center for the Arts.

Ghost Hunt

7:30 -10 pm | Sept. 7. Take part in an authentic ghost hunt of the building and grounds (weather permitting) using real investigative tools led by members of the Charlotte Area Paranormal Society (CAPS). Mooresville Festival of Food Trucks

5-8:30 pm |Sept. 7. Bring a chair, hang out in the street eating food truck fare and listening to music. Downtown Mooresville.

Standup Paddleboarding

9:30-11 am; arrive no later than 9:15 am so that class can start on time | Sept. 7. Learn stand up paddleboarding (SUP) in a safe and controlled environment with experienced and certified paddle instructors. Participants will use top quality, new equipment. Must register. Cost per person: $30 for residents, $36 others. Lake Norman Community Sailing Center, 15901 NC-73, located within Blythe Landing Park, Cornelius.

Sunday, Sept. 8

Annual Mooresville Fondo

7:30 am | Sept. 8. Join the bicycle ride for everyone. The annual Mooresville Fondo is an inclusive, all-ages and abilities group bicycle ride demonstrating Gran Fondo style cycling, meaning “big ride” in Italian. From relaxed routes to more challenging courses, this charity bike ride offers 25-, 50- and 75-mile courses. Benefiting American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and Top of the Lake Rotary – Mooresville. Register at Let’s Cycle. Downtown Mooresville on Main Street.
