Weekend best bets include concerts, a play and a back-to-school bash

Aug. 20-22: “The Refugees” performed by Davidson College Theatre Dept.

Aug. 20. Here is what’s going on around Lake Norman this weekend.

Davidson College Theatre Department

7:30 pm. “The Refugees” in which Greek tragedy collides with the present day in this swift, whimsical, impassioned play about a wealthy land grappling with a refugee crisis. Cunningham Theatre Center CUNN-115 Barber Theatre at Davidson College. Tickets are required. $15 for general admission. Unvaccinated persons are required to wear masks.

Live Under The Oaks

6-8 pm. Bob Trice. Bring a chair or blanket sit on. The Grove across from Starbucks at Birkdale Village, Huntersville.

Aug. 21: “School of Rock” will be screened at Cornelius Town Hall

Back-2-School Bash & Outdoor Movie 

6 pm at Cornelius Town Hall lawn. Celebrate the end of summer and kick off the 2021-22 school year. Family-friendly activities. The movie, “School of Rock,” will begin at dusk. Concessions available for purchase. Don’t forget to bring your blankets and chairs.

Denver Days

7-10 pm. Justin Minton  at Rescue Squad Park, 7835 Galway Ln., Denver, for Music in the Park. Free. Food Trucks on site and beer and wine for purchase from Eleven Lakes Brewery. No coolers or outside beverages other than water.

 

Aug. 21: U-Phonik headlines the Summer Concert Series at D9 Brewing Co.
