Watch Me Dance – Chicago Stepping 

7-8 pm Fridays through Dec. 26 at the Huntersville Arts & Cultural Center, 109 S. Old Statesville Rd. Purple Charlotte Steppers presents an interactive dance series that promotes social connectivity and health through movement. This series celebrates American style social dancing. Watch Me Dance highlights the American social dance styles birthed in African-American communities, including Chicago Stepping, Detroit Ballroom and Soul Line Dancing. This series is open to children 10 and older and adult children of all ages. Huntersville Half Marathon & Holiday 5k 

7 pm Friday. The Huntersville Holiday 5k will start Friday night, while the Huntersville Half Marathon & 10k will begin on Saturday morning at 8 am. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go toward supporting Speed for Need, a non-profit focused on empowering members of the community affected by disability or disease through participation in fitness events.

Lighted Boat Parade

25th annual at Peninsula Yacht Club, Harbor Light Boulevard. Event open to Lake Norman community. Concessions open 5 pm. Santa arrives by powerboat 6 pm. Parade beings 6:15 pm. Parking is limited.

Free Home Composting Workshop

10-11 am. Join Master Composter Lino Scala as he discusses and demonstrates the various ways to compost food waste and other organics at home. This workshop will teach you the basics about indoor and outdoor composting options, including vermicomposting (worm) and bokashi composting. Cost is free but please click here to register.

McDowell Creek Greenway Dedication

12 pm. Celebrate with the town as it opens another part of the Emerald Necklace, connecting the north end of the McDowell Creek Greenway at Westmoreland Road to Magnolia Estates Drive. Meet at North Trail Head @ Magnolia Estates Drive.

Music at the Mill

Seth Walker is often cited as one of the most prolific contemporary Americana artists on the scene today. He’s a multi-dimensional talent who combines a gift for melody and lyric alongside a rich, Gospel-drenched, Southern-inflected voice with a true-blue knack for getting around on the guitar.
