March 3. North Carolina voting places are open today from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm for the March 3 primary election. Photo ID is not required.
Primary elections are being held in 14 different states and one U.S. territory. There are nearly 200 voting sites Mecklenburg County, four in Cornelius, including Town Hall, Bethel Presbyterian Church, Jetton Park and Community in Christ Lutheran Church.
Unaffiliated voters can choose to vote in the Democratic, Libertarian or Republican primaries. Members of those parties cannot vote in primaries of other parties.
Nearly 70,000 ballots were cast during the early voting period.
Mecklenburg County has new machines. Citizens will vote on one device and then take their ballot to be scanned on another machine. The machines are very easy to use.
