Town Board meets tonight

Oct. 17. The Cornelius Board of Commissioners meeting tonight will include a couple of appointments.  Under consideration is the appointment of Susan Johnson as liaison between the Architectural Review Board and Planning Board. She previously served as an alternate board member.

Marcy Pelucio recently resigned from both the Planning Board and the Architectural Review Board, leaving her liaison positions open on both boards. Planning Board Chairwoman Cheryl Crawford and Planning Director Wayne Herron recommend promoting Johnson to the position held by Pelucio.

In conjunction with this appointment, Ivy Stroud is recommended to fill the position vacated by the promotion of Johnson. Stroud will be the liaison for the Planning Board to the Architectural Review Board, on which she currently serves.

Also at Monday’s meeting, the town commissioners will be adopting a resolution in support of Red Ribbon Week, established by Congress in 1988 to encourage a drug-free lifestyle, involvement in drug prevention, and reduction efforts. The resolution will specifically honor Devon and Darian Saychay, Cornelius residents in the Young Marine program helping to develop good citizenship and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle for area youth.

The town board meeting begins at 7 pm, in Town Hall on Catawba Avenue.
