March 1. At Monday’s Cornelius Town Board meeting, the Smithville Community Coalition (SCC) will unveil their neighborhood revitalization plan to the Town Board and the general public. The basic thrust of the proposal is to address gentrification in the Smithville neighborhood.
The plan has been developed by the SCC over the past 18 months working with Neighboring Concepts, a local planning firm led by Darrell Williams, who has done significant work on similar programs in the Charlotte Metro area.
The SCC has also been working on several other issues including storm water planning, and neighborhood education.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the commissioners will conduct their first public hearing on the Sefton Park mixed-use project, which includes three buildings with 344 multi family units, plus a hotel/conference center.
The meeting will begin at 5 pm at Town Hall and will be broadcast live on the town web site www.cornelius.org.
