Sept. 17. Emma Mondo, a former reporter at WCCB, is the new person responsible for internal and external communications for the Town of Cornelius. Introduced at last night’s Town Board meeting, she replaces MaeLynn Joyner who moved on to the Centralina Regional Council.
The Town received about 70 applications for the job.
In other action, the commissioners:
–Approved easements to permit construction of a sanitary sewer line to serve the future Mayes Meadow subdivision, where 160 single-family homes on 96.5 acres of vacant farm and wooded property on Mayes Road.
—Accepted a contribution from The Rotary Club of North Mecklenburg comprising four pieces of outdoor musical play equipment to Cain Park, the green area on the south side of the Cain Center for the Arts. The donation is valued at $20,000.
The Make an Impact Foundation also contributed to the installation.
—Recognized three new police dogs, each one a mix of German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois. They were purchased with asset forfeiture funds.
