Jan. 28. By Dave Vieser. If you own a cell phone and live in Cornelius, you may be among the lucky ones who continue receiving tornado warnings on their cell phones as they drive through town. The problem seems to be concentrated on West Catawba Avenue, near Jetton Road.
This area is adjacent to the towering cell phone tower that was erected three years ago.
From calls Cornelius Today has received plus notes seen on social media, the issue seems to be concentrated on cell phones using the T Mobile system and has been occurring since a real tornado warning was issued several weeks ago.
Cornelius Today has reached out to T Mobile in order to ascertain what is being done to resolve this unusual issue. Stay tuned.
Yes, this happens to me daily! 🙁
If people are receiving false alerts, that is a violation of FCC rules. This needs to be reported to the Common Carrier Bureau
Happens to me daily when I drive on Catawba Ave and pass by the Publix. All devices, including my Apple Watch. Plenty of screenshots if T-Mobile needs to talk with a user who is experiencing the issue.
Please send me some screenshots to the email below. I have started a complaint with the FCC.
Can you send an actual street address of the tower? Or a Google Earth screenshot?
Both FCC and FEMA have been notified.
