Crazy gridlock

April 20. Police and town officials are keeping an eye on traffic on West Catawba which was fully gridlocked in both directions late this afternoon. Police are watching cameras on the town’s major artery, but there’s apparently no explanation other than unusual delays on I-77.

‘Pack the Patrol Car’ for students in need

Aug. 9. It’s time to “Pack the Patrol Car” with school supplies for the upcoming school year. Catawba Avenue is OPEN!

UPDATE. Catawba Avenue has reopened in time for the afternoon commute home. Police said the road was closed because of a  large hydraulic oil spill caused by a Republic trash truck. It occurred near Meridian and Mulberry streets. Police redirected traffic to Hwy. 21 and Main Street at the time. There were no injuries, according to police.

Gun and Hoses event July 30
