Nov. 7. The Mt. Zion Barbecue gets under way at 11 am and the forecast is excellent for good food, entertainment and fellowship. The “Hee Haw Spectacular” starts at 11:30 am and continues until 1 pm. The National Weather Service says look for showers today and possibly a thunderstorm, with highs around 70. The church barbecue is a 75-year tradition in Cornelius, with lots of history. Meanwhile, the 22nd annual Carolina Renaissance Festival will not open today, but if you are looking for a turkey leg to chew on, tomorrow is the day.
