Aug. 5. The Ada Jenkins Center is expanding with two new after-school programs:
—Kindergarten-level spots in Ada Jenkins Center’s LEARN Works program, the only free after school academic program in northern Mecklenburg County for nearly 20 years. Now accepting kindergarten-age students,
—LEARN Works After-School Care program. At a cost of $50/week, this new program provides affordable access to after-school care for elementary school students (K-5), regardless of their academic level. There are 12 spots available during this program pilot year.
LEARN Works provides:
Reading support
Career exploration, financial literacy, other enrichment activities
Homework start assistance
Parent education
Access to other Ada Jenkins Center services and resources, as needed
Details
Both programs run daily Monday-Friday from mid-September to mid-May. Students are brought to the program every day by bus from our partner schools. Consistent student attendance and parent participation is required, and parents must pick up students at dismissal.
Applications are due Aug. 16.
Families that apply and are enrolled by Aug. 23 will be able to participate in a free in-store shoe shopping experience at the Shoe Show Mega Store.
