Some events on, some off due to COVID-19 in 2021

Dec. 14. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused many events to be cancelled or postponed due to common sense and state-by-state restrictions on large gatherings. Times Square will not be open to the public on New Years Eve, and the City of New Orleans has cancelled parades of any kind during the 2021 festive season. Organizers of the Paris Air Show have cancelled the June 2021 event.

Likewise some local events in 2021 are being cancelled or pushed back even as a vaccine begins to roll out one phase at a time.

Gala postponed

The Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce gala in January has been postponed. “It will likely be pushed out to March or April when this is behind us,” said Chamber CEO Bill Russell.

Church leaders are already pondering the Easter season and how observances will be held. Lent begins Feb. 17.

Budget retreat

The Cornelius Town Board budget retreat, set for March 24-

25 at the Graylyn Conference Center in Winston-Salem, was still a “go” as of this morning.
