The Solace for the Children ”Giving Games” will be held April 28 from 4 pm to 6 pm at Primal Brewery in Huntersville. Teams compete in cornhole, mini-tennis and minute-to-win-it games. Tickets, which are $35 each, include BBQ dinner and one beverage. The goal is to raise money to cover travel expenses to bring four children of war to the Lake Norman area for medical treatment this summer. Medical treatment is donated by local hospitals and doctors, while the children stay with local host families. Local organizer Deborah Young, the photographer based in Cornelius, says Solace for the Children is a humanitarian organization that promotes peace by establishing international partnerships and providing medical care for the children of war-torn countries.
