June 2. NC Sen. Natasha Marcus has filed four bills with local impact, including a request for $1 million to support Smithville revitalization plan. The other bills include strengthening environmental protections in the wake of the gasoline spill in Huntersville, studying ocular melanoma, and planning for affordable housing.
Marcus is seeking $150,000 to hire environmental experts at the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University to study and abate ocular melanoma.
In Davidson, Marcus is seeking funding for pedestrian safety, fire station and sustainability projects.
For Huntersville, Marcus is seeking $150,000 for the town to create an affordable housing plan.
