April 13. When it comes to the safest cities in North Carolina, Cornelius and Davidson are among the Top 10 safest places to live and work in the Tarheel State. Cornelius came in No. 10, while Davidson came in sixth place. Huntersville just missed the Top 20 safest city list, coming in 21st, based on FBI crime statistics.
To identify the 10 safest cities in North Carolina, SafeWise Safest Cities used FBI Crime data as well as population data.
Eighty percent of the cities on the SafeWise Cities list reported zero murders according to the FBI’s most recent crime report. Chances of falling victim to any kind of violent crime is slim in all three North Mecklenburg towns; on top of that, the chance of falling victim to a property crime is less than 20 in 1,000.
SafestCities narrowed it down based on the number of reported violent crimes (aggravated assault, murder, rape, and robbery) and property crimes (burglary, arson, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft) in each city. To further level the playing field, SafeWise Cities calculated the likelihood of these crimes occurring out of 1,000 people in each city
