Jan. 27. The Charlotte Independence soccer club has opened registration for their adult spring soccer league, which is one of the longest-running adult leagues in North Mecklenburg. The league offers divisions for players of varying ages and abilities and holds games on Sunday evenings at Bailey Road Park.
The fall season runs from Feb. 25 to May 5 and includes eight regular season games and two weeks of playoffs. Teams play on shortened fields with eight players per side and games are played as two, 25-minute halves. This year the club is also offering three weeks of preseason pickup games to get ready for the season.
“We want to provide playing opportunities for young, competitive players and the still-young-at-heart players,” said Barry Slagle, director of recreation for the Independence. “Our 35+ recreation division is our fastest growing group and offers a great opportunity for players to get back out on the field. We also offer a very strong 35+ competitive division and our 18+ division has a really good level of play and intensity.”
The league costs $100 per player and individuals can register as free agents or as full teams. Registration is open now at www.independencesoccer.club.
