Nov. 11, 2016. On an incredible sunny morning with hundreds of people from infants to Word War II veterans, Cornelius came together at the Veterans Monument to honor the women and men who made it possible. It was Veterans Day and Cornelius showed its appreciation loud and clear, with a 21-gun salute, songs, a speech and a moving performance by country music star Rockie Lynne, a US Army veteran himself.

Mayor Chuck Travis spoke, Rev. Ellison Bowman prayed and Cornelius veterans’ newly inscribed names were read aloud next to the simple but beautiful monument on which they are written.
