Feb. 10. By Dave Vieser. Site preparation and some construction work has begun at two sites in Cornelius which will eventually house Pre-K schools.
On Hwy. 21, just north of Bailey Road, Jay D Holdings Cornelius, Inc. is building LeafSpring School, a 13,000 square foot pre-school and 10,000 square foot after-school building.
The school is designed to accommodate approximately 160 children for pre-school and an additional 200 for after-school care. The facilities will be a mix of all-day childcare, part-time care, and after-school only.
Opening date: Early Fall 2021.
Meanwhile, construction has finally begun at 8715 Westmoreland Road, future site of Vanderbilt Children’s College.
Georgia-based True North Co. is building a 12,000 square foot Center with associated parking and a fenced-in play area.
This project got off to a slow start, partially due to complications concerning the nearby intersection of a future Northcross Drive Extension with Westmoreland Road.
