Oct. 11. Huntersville Police have nabbed a suspect in the late July jewelry burglary at Fink’s in Birkdale Village. The store was burglarized overnight, and multiple items were stolen.
Detective Mitch Yates obtained warrants on the suspect, Derrick Lamar Brooks, 33, of Concord. He was arrested on Sept. 20 by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, and was held until HPD Detectives went and assisted with extradition on Sept. 27.
He was brought back to Mecklenburg County, booked, and released on Sept. 28 on a $10,000 secure bond.
The charges filed were Felony Breaking and Entering, Felony Larceny, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, and Injury to Personal Property.
This was the second investigation at the jewelry store in July. On July 12, thieves with guns and sledgehammers robbed Fink’s Jewelers while wearing hooded sweatshirts and full-face masks.
