Aug. 2. Susan Johnson was unanimously appointed the new Cornelius Planning Board chairman at the Town Board’s Aug.1 meeting. Johnson, a Realtor, has been on the Planning Board for eight years.
“I am very excited and honored to be appointed as the Planning Board Chair,” Johnson said following the vote. “I look forward to continuing to work with our town staff and fellow planning board members to address the town’s planning needs.”
Johnson had strong support from the town planning staff.
“Susan is a native of the Charlotte and Lake Norman area and her expertise in residential real estate and knowledge of the area is what sets her apart in the real estate world,” said Deputy Town Manager Wayne Herron.
Her first service to the Town and its citizens was in 2012, when she was appointed to the Town’s Land Development Code Advisory Board. She was appointed to the Planning Board as an alternate in 2016 and a year later promoted to a full Planning Board member.
All Planning Board members are appointed by the Town Board. Members serve three-year staggered terms and must be residents of Cornelius.
