April 27. Perry Mixter is the new development director at the Cain Center for the Arts. The former vice president of development at the Arts & Science Council, he successfully generated $6 million annually to support Mecklenburg’s arts and culture ecosystem.
He also served as president of the Arts Partnership of Greater Spartanburg (2007-11), director of the Office of Cultural Affairs at Appalachian State University (1991-2007), executive director of the Winston-Salem Symphony (1984-91), and most recently as the Development Director for JazzArts Charlotte.
Cain Center groundbreaking takes place May 14; construction will be completed in late 2022. The Capital Campaign so far has brought in $18 million toward a total $25 millionl project budget.
