Jan. 8. A pub reminiscent of gathering places in the British Isles has opened in Jetton Village in the former Cornelius Draft House space. Proprietors James Holywell and Agnes Syslo say opening the Penny Lane pub is a dream come true, having operated a cozy bar on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The couple traveled the US and fell in love with this area
Holywell is from Liverpool, while Syslo is from Krakow in Poland.
Penny Lane is already popular with the international set; it opens early for international soccer matches. Karaoke, trivia night and live music are also part of the mix, as well as a couch, comfortable chairs and a fireplace.
Popular drinks, in addition to Guinness and Fuller’s London Pride, include old fashions, $12 and up, and espresso martinis, $13 and up.
