May 20. Businesses are starting making plans for re-opening with the new requirements in place. Some churches as well are starting to talk about holding worship inside the sanctuary, with at least one Cornelius church planning to start this weekend.
Re-opening updates
Pure Barre Lake Norman-Birkdale announced it will reopen studio doors beginning Saturday, May 23, for a soft opening. Class sizes will be reduced and classes must be pre-booked. There will be no-contact check-in. “As this is an evolving situation, we continue to monitor this situation in real-time to ensure the proper precautions are being taken so everyone feels safe coming to class,” the studio said in its announcement. Dick’s Sporting Goods in Birkdale Village has reopened with both curbside and store hours 9 am to 9 pm Monday to Saturday and 10 am to 7 pm Sunday. Shopping for at-risk customers is offered 8 am to 9 am Tuesdays and Fridays.
Welborne, White & Schmidt dentists re-opened May 11 and are seeing all patients.
Atrium / One Health medical practice locations are opening around Lake Norman. The first OB/GYN location opened May 18 in Huntersville, with family medicine and the rest of the locations soon following, according to an Atrium Health news release.
First Baptist Church on Catawba Avenue announced on its FaceBook page that it likely will resume indoor worship following safety protocols on Sunday, May 24.
Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Mooresville opened on Tuesday, May 19. The new hours of operation for shoppers and for donation drop-offs will be 10 am to 4 pm Tuesday to Saturday. No word on the Cornelius location.
Goodwill in Cornelius has re-opened with reduced hours and is accepting donations at an onsite trailer. The store’s temporary hours are 10 am to 7 pm everyday, with 9 am to 10 am Tuesday reserved for seniors and those who underlying medical conditions. Items donated or returned sales will be kept 72 hours in quarantine before being put on shelves for sale.

Consign On A Dime & Showplace 28 are under new ownership. Heather and Andrew Kline, of Cornelius, will be taking over the business from Sandra Getts and Tamara Mullis.
