Thigpen? Are there no local developers, who live in this area, invited to join this panel? WHY is Thigpen and this Maryland based company SO interested in the LOCAL government of our town?

Isn’t it obvious? He’s trying to rub shoulders with the people on the west side of town to try and push through his development across from Bailey Road Park. They don’t care, as long as it’s on “that side of town.” Also, notice the time…7:30am on a Friday. Those without jobs that allow work from home or who can’t miss a day of work won’t be able to make it to the Peninsula Club to voice their opinions to the newsmakers.
We’ve been holding Newsmakers Breakfasts at 7:30 am at The Peninsula Club for 14-15 years. Hard close at 9 am so that people can get to work albeit a little late.
Where is Mayor Washam? He continues to say that Cornelius isn’t growing in terms of population.
All along Bailey Rd. east of the RR tracks, the area is single-family residential homes, two schools, and Bailey Road Park. That portion of Bailey road near Greenburg Gibbons’ proposed flex space/light industrial campus is narrow, hilly and two lane.
“Rural Preservation zone” is what the zoning is now across from the park and middle school and it should stay that way. Read the Town’s Master Plan from 2012 published on cornelius.org.
