Marh 8. The number of people hospitalized due to COVID-19 in North Carolina continues to fall. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 1,126 people hospitalized with the coronavirus, down by more than half from Feb. 8.

There were 1,228 new cases in today’s report, down from 3,084 new cases also reported on Feb. 8.

There were 33 new deaths statewide attributable to COVID-19.

Testing

The statewide positive test rate is at 4.6 percent, down from 15-16 percent at the beginning of the year. The positive test rate in Mecklenburg was 5 percent.

North Mecklenburg

Cornelius: 2,554 cumulative; 23 deaths total.

Davidson: 1,446 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 5,198 cumulative; 47 deaths total.
