NC COVID-19 hospitalization up by just 1 since Thursday

May 1. Mecklenburg County’s total coronavirus cases reached 1,651, according to state health data Friday morning, while statewide cases rose to 10,923, up from 3.9 percent from the 10,509 reported yesterday.

Statewide, 133,000 COVID-19 tests have been administered, up from 128,000 yesterday.

According to the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services, 547 are people are hospitalized due to COVID-19, up only by one individual from yesterday. To view today’s NCDHHS data, click here.

Mecklenburg County health officials said Thursday 49 people with COVID-19 have died locally, same as what was reported by NCDHHS today.

Statewide, the death toll is 399, up from 378 yesterday, according to NCDHHS.

In nearby counties, the numbers are rising slowly. There were no new deaths in Cabarrus, Iredell nor Catawba.

At least 63,000 people have died from coronavirus in the U.S. Johns Hopkins University reports 154,000 people have recovered from COVID-19.
