Promoting Democracy and Rule of Law in the Balkans
7 – 8 pm | March 23. A senior diplomat with 30+ years of experience advocating US policy, in 2018 Greg Delawie retired from the Foreign Service as Ambassador to Kosovo. As DCM (chief operating officer) at the embassy in Berlin, he led a team that rebuilt US-German relations. Since retiring from the Foreign Service, Delawie has taught diplomacy at George Mason University, consulted for the State Department, and promoted democratic change in Virginia. Davidson College Chorale and Chamber Singers: Considering Matthew Shepard
7:30 – 9 pm | March 24. Twenty-five years have passed since Matthew Shepard, a young, gay student at the University of Wyoming was kidnapped, beaten and left to die in a field. Five days later, when Matt died, the world reacted, passing hate crime legislation at the state and federal level. The singers will sing Matthew’s story by performing Craig Hella Johnson’s oratorio, Considering Matthew Shepard. Passages from Matt’s personal journal, interviews and writings from his parents Judy and Dennis Shepard and newspaper reports, convey that light prevails over darkness and love over hate. This concert is free and open to the public; no tickets are required,

Jacolby Satterwhite’s Finding Home Again exhibit focuses on his digital animated series, Birds in Paradise, which features a mythological, queer universe inspired by pop culture, African folklore, ritual, video games and personal narratives.
