Oct. 16. With a lot of heart, a little magic, and plenty of merry, three local mothers will help families for the second year through the Merry Magic Project (MMP). Last year’s event helped 10 families with 28 kids.
This year’s goal is 15 families.
MMP was created by Melissa Cuff and Natalie Zito, both Cornelius, and Ashley Wolf, of Mooresville, “to bring families together who are going through difficult times, by giving them tools to create merry, and magical experiences at home together.”
Donations are collected throughout the year including holiday decor, pajamas, wrapping paper and toys.
‘We’ve got your back’
Cuff said it was “the most incredible feeling” to call parents and tell them “it’s ok, we’ve got your back.”
Families who were helped last year had different stories, from parents working four jobs each to support their family of seven; another who lost a spouse—with three children under five.
All the items are given to the families in a volunteer run, and festive “Experience Night” the week before Thanksgiving, leading families into the holiday season stress free.
