Jan. 16. There are two celebrations honoring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
At 2 pm Sunday, Jan. 19 at Torrence Chapel AME Zion Church a special program will honor Nannie Houston Potts, the first female and only Black mayor of Cornelius. The keynote speaker will be Mayor Christy Clark of Huntersville.

At noon Monday, Jan. 20 a luncheon will be held at Cornelius Town Hall. The speaker will be Presiding Prelate and Senior Bishop Darryl B. Starnes of the AME Zion Church.
The Ecumenical Choir will perform during the luncheon Jan. 20. Local churches are invited to be part of the choir.
