April 19. The Loch Norman Highland Games are this weekend at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.

This is the 30th anniversary of the traditional Scottish festival where visitors can experience music and dance performances, athletic competitions, cultural demonstrations, Scottish food trucks, Celtic vendors, historical reenactments and educational presentations about Scottish history and culture.

Highland Games are a unique mix of the sporting, the cultural, the music and the social. They comprise a program of field and track events, piping and Highland dancing competitions, and ‘heavy events’ like the tug-o-war, the hammer throw and tossing the caber.
