The extension has become a popular alternative for drivers seeking to avoid congestion on West Catawba, but the roadway has deteriorated and the “bump-outs” near intersections are considered outdated and dangerous.

The work is part of a project that includes removing all on-street parking and adding bike lanes, as well as repaving from West Catawba to Liverpool. The town will also add a 10-foot multi-use path on the south side of Jetton Extension, and a 27-space public parking lot near the building at 19924 Jetton where Lakeside Sports Chiropractic is located.
