Jason William Boyd, 80

Jason William “Blaze” Boyd, of Davidson, born, June 9, 1934 very peacefully passed away at the Levine and Dickson Hospice House on March 11, 2015 surrounded by his children, family and firefighter brothers. Jason was a retired engineer for the City of Charlotte Fire Department. He served 28 years. He was a forced to be Duke and Davidson Basketball fan and also loved the Panthers. He never met a stranger and always had a good story to hear that would make you laugh. He fought a 15 year battle with illness. He won. He ran a good race but fell into a deep sleep and awoke in glory! The family wishes to thank all who prayed for him and stood by his side. Special thanks is offered to the amazing staff of the hospice house. Your service and care were overwhelming.
He is preceded in death by his wife Bennie Hoke Boyd. Survivors include his daughters, Teresa Boyd Waugh, Beverly Boyd Shew and husband Kenny, and Stacey Boyd Marks, all of Davidson; 6 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; brothers, Butch, Lee and Vernon; sisters, Delton Cortez, Emma McGee and Tennie Isaac.
Memorials may be made to the Levine and Dickson Hospice House, 11900 Vanstory Dr. Huntersville, NC 28078 and flowers are also appreciated (through Artistry Florals, Cornelius).
A graveside service will be held at 4 PM Saturday, March 14 at Mimosa Cemetery in Davidson with Butch Boyd officiating. The Charlotte Fire Dept. will offer honors. Visitation will follow.
