If you like it cold and wet, barefoot ski tournament is where to be New Years Day

Dec. 2. The 44th Annual Lake Norman New Year’s Day Barefoot Tournament will be held New Years Day at Lake Norman Marina. The tournament, which combines barefoot starts, tricks and endurance skills in a single ride, starts at noon and is hosted by the Carolina Show Ski Team.

It’s the first water ski event of 2022, which is the 100th anniversary of water skiing.

About 25-30 barefoot water skiers are expected, coming from as far as Florida and New Jersey.

Admission is free, and concessions will be available on site. Click here for more info.

The Carolina Show Ski Team is a 501C3 non-profit organization based out of Tega Cay, whose mission is to promote water skiing and water safety. During the summer they provide ski shows every Friday night at Windjammer Park.
