Aug. 30. For us, Hurricane Ida is more about breaking the heat wave than it is about torrential rain and high winds. The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 96 this afternoon in Cornelius, and 92 tomorrow, due to increasing clouds. Showers tomorrow night for sure, with thunderstorms late in the evening into Wednesday when the high will only be about 83 amidst winds up to 21 mph.
