April 6. By Dave Yochum. Hundreds of people from Cornelius, as well as all around North Mecklenburg and as far as Salisbury crowded the Veteran’s Monument near Town Hall before marching peacefully to protest President Trump and presidential adviser Elon Musk.
The people came in all stripes and colors, from lakefront homeowners to veterans, women young and not-so-young, business owners and children toted by young parents.
Cornelius hosted one of hundreds if not thousands of “Hands Off” rallies yesterday in all 50 states, including an even larger one in Charlotte where the crowd was estimated at 3,000.

Just a few feet from the Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza in Cornelius, Viet Nam veteran Bob Doran carried a sign that said “Hands off Veterans Benefits. We Earned Them.”
Marchers waving anti-Trump flags denounced deportation efforts, defunding public health, escalating tariffs, eliminating DEI and the Administration’s threats to Social Security.
Donna Hatfield, a Cornelius senior, carried a hand-crafted sign that said “Hands Off Social Security.”
Organizers say Saturday was the largest single day of demonstrations against President Trump and Musk. The Washington Post said the crowd on the National Mall stretched as “far as the eye could see” from all sides of the stage.
In Cornelius, protestors marched two and three abreast, stretching from Town Hall to the Community Garden just west of Smithville Park. Cornelius Police said there were 500 marchers.

I also learned is best to ignore the “maggots” as they are ones without a brain and ready to jump off a cliff if they are told so by the cult leader 🤦🏽♀️. We just need to ignore the noise and stupidity.

If something isn’t done, Social Security is toast! People, this is the first President who is focused on SS’s longevity. Get real. He has not advocated any changes to Social Security or Veterans’ benefits, notwithstanding what you are told to say and what is written on your signs. He is rooting out fraud, waste and inefficency in our Federal Government for which we should all thank him. Finally, he is genuinely committed to improving the lives of all Americans, more so than any other President in our lifetime.

Those attempting to belittle the Cornelius protests are unaware they this was only one of many. That many went to others throughout the region- Charlotte, Mooresville, and more.
Being split all across the entire country in fact. HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS PROTESTEES en mass cane out Cross America to protest against this evil, despotic Trump regime and yet MAGATS want to try to deminish it. It’s sad they are this clueless.
It tells you they are too far gone to see anything but what has been drilled into them. They are indeed brainwashed.
To say that CNN and MSNBC or to even question our local publication of Cornelius Today, and claim these are fake news and lies is insight into the severe mental health issues in out country, and sadly also in our area. It is sad and it is sick.
Their complete lack of mind control and utter nonsensical thinking will not deter the majority- who CAN see. This election was in no way fair and in no way free, and the lies spewed from the top along with all the stealing and cheating has made them feel falsly emboldened, believing they have the numbers and falsly believing they have Trump a so called “mandate”, but they are fools who have indeed been fooled.
They are not the majority. They are a facade.
There are also many low information votors who sadly and unfortunately believed the lies but who were not totally brainwashed, so they now gave their eyes open. They are coming to and they are joining our calls.
When a President of the United States is working to activly destroy not only America, but the entire world – WE THE PEOPLE will not back down.
What we on the correct side of history must begin to understand is that we cannot fix these mindless sheeple. They truly are too far gone. Only when, (and maybe not even then), they are directly impacted will they begin to desire informed and put down the Kool-aid, get curious and seek the real information from reputable sources such as MSNBC and CNN whom have carried out honest, factual journalism in order to keep us informed and thinking critically. They are the 4th Estate and now the only sound one we can truly rely on to hold this county together with real information and insights.
The fact they attack these integral resources so maliciously is only an attempt to desperately hold onto their false and alternative reality and make themselves feel better about being so duped. If they allow themselves to believe that these resources are legitimate and true, they must then face and confront themselves head on and try to understand how they have been so gulible to have believed all they have, and that is simply too much for them. Thus they continue to stay in this imaginary world where they are right and we are wrong.
So we will KEEP ON Protesting because we CAN NOT accept the attacks from within. Anything else is acceptance and the truth is WE STILL HAVE THE ULTIMATE POWER. The power of the PEOPLE. We are stronger and we have the numbers.
