How much money did 28031 send to the presidential campaigns?

Visualization of direct presidential campaign contributions from 28031

Nov. 5.  Cornelius residents gave a total of at least $55,000 to the Democratic and Republican candidates for president from June through Oct. 31 according to data reported by the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

—Kamala Harris landed 68 percent of the donations, or $34,000 from 117 individual donors

—Donald Trump landed 32 percent of the donations, or $20,000 from 55 individual donors.

The individual contributions were based on the Cornelius Zip Code only, for the General Election only.

Individuals may donate to a variety of sources, e.g., PACs, election funds, and other campaigns; however, we limited our search to Presidential Campaign Committees

Caveats:

—If a donor resides at more than one address, a Cornelius address may not be reported.

—Even in Cornelius, Harris received contributions prior to her candidacy, meaning money was reallocated.

—Data is through Oct. 31, but candidates may amend entries. The closer to Oct. 31, the more variance in data received.

—No PACs. PACs, e.g., WinRed, WinBlue, etc., may allocate their fundraising to candidates at their own discretion. Donors in Cornelius gave to PACs, including the two listed as examples, but that data is not represented in the charts.
