Feb. 4. By Dave Vieser. Another initiative from the new Cornelius Town Board—a Growth Management Committee—is on the agenda for discussion and possible formation during Monday’s Feb. 7 Town Board Meeting.
“The commissioners have indicated that they would like to form such a committee to oversee the development of the new draft Land Use Plan,” said Deputy Town Manager Wayne Herron. “In response, we have proposed a template of 13 potential memberships to represent different areas of expertise or geographic areas for the board to consider.”
The proposed membership would include the following:
1. Town Board and Planning Board: 2 members each
2. Business Community: 1 member
3. Economic Development: 1 member
4. Rural Preservation area: 1 member
5. Washam Potts area: 1 member
6. Town Center/Catawba Ave area: 1 member
7. Village Center/West Catawba Ave area: 1 member
8. Developer: 1 member
9. Affordable Housing: 1 member
10. Historian: 1 member
Herron emphasized that the proposal was just a starting point for developing membership for the committee.
The meeting will begin at 6 pm in Town Hall on Catawba Avenue. It will also be lived-streamed on the town website: www.cornelius.org. Click on “watch meetings online.”
