Goodwill, Williams Sonoma, other stores open for business

May 11. More businesses are opening in and around Cornelius: Goodwill has opened on West Catawba as well as the lobby at Aquesta Bank on Jetton.

Many local businesses are requesting shoppers to wear masks and maintain social distancing.

Northlake Mall officials say they will open at 11 am May 18.

Gov. Cooper’s most recent executive order allowed more businesses to open as of 5 pm Friday May 8.

Some retailers in Birkdale Village in Huntersville are open alongside the restaurants offering take-out pick up. Most of the bigger retail chains like Banana Republic and Gap and Loft remain closed. Williams Sonoma is open.

Simon Property Group says SouthPark, Concord Mills, and the Charlotte Premium Outlets are open and will abide by local, state and federal health guidelines as well as its comprehensive Exposure Control Policy.

Safety protocols include enhanced sanitization and disinfecting, making available protective masks, sanitizing wipes and temperature testing at entrances and pre-emptive employee health screening.

Simon malls closed its malls and outlets nationwide March 18.

Bars and restaurants are part of Phase 2 reopening, which means they could reopen by the end of May, barring any spikes or setbacks in North Carolina’s coronavirus numbers. Phase 2 won’t start until a minimum of two or three weeks after Phase 1. North Carolina’s bars and restaurants have been closed since March 17.

NC Sen. Jeff Jackson said more stores reopening this week. “That’s going to bring a heightened level of risk,” he said.
