June 25. Huntersville Town Manager Anthony Roberts announced today that he selected Benson “Bence” Hoyle as the new Chief of Police for the Huntersville Police Department. He
served as the Interim Chief of Police from January 4 th until June 24 th.
Hoyle has 33 years of law enforcement experience, most recently serving as Police Chief in Cornelius since 2007. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice
from Western Carolina University and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Methodist University. He served 10 years on the Board of Directors for the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police.
Town Manager Roberts stated “Chief Hoyle will bring extensive knowledge, experience and leadership skills to the Huntersville Police Department.” Roberts himself was the town manager of Cornelius before hopping to Huntersville.
Hoyle said he is excited both personally and professionally to come back to work for an organization where he started his law enforcement career.
