Fifth Third celebrates 5/3 by giving back

April 30. Team members at Fifth Third Bank’s two Cornelius branches will celebrate “Fifth Third Day” by volunteering and donating to fight food insecurity in the communities where they live and work. On May 3—aka 5/3—the bank will provide millions of meals across its footprint through a combination of volunteerism, donations and fundraising efforts.

Fifth Third has the fifth highest deposits in Cornelius, according to the FDIC:

The No. 17 car

Wells Fargo: $266 million
Bank of America: $213 million
United Community: $156 million
Regions Bank: $132 million
Fifth Third: $117 million

Background

Fifth Third entered the Cornelius market in 2007 with the acquisition of First Charter, previously based in Concord. Since then, the bank has added a second branch on West Catawba, a mile away from the original branch.

Details

On Friday, NASCAR Driver Chris Buescher and members of his pit crew will be volunteering alongside Fifth Third employees at Second Harvest Metrolina. The No. 17 Fifth Third Bank Mustang will also be on display for photos.

The Cornelius branches will also be selling shields for $1 each during May. Each $1 helps to provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local partner food banks. The employees from the two Cornelius branches will also be participating in volunteer activities throughout the month at Second Harvest, For the Struggle and FEEDNC.
