Big Day at the Lake’s Celebrity Bartending Fundraiser is tonight!

Tip your favorite barkeep, tapster, mixologist and flairman (or woman) to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.

On Saturday, make it an early date with breakfast and a movie at Birkdale. Proceeds from this fundraiser go to support “Warrior” Jace Thompson, son of Cornelius Police Captain Jennifer Thompson, who has a rare cancer. Family packages are available.

Thursday, June 14
Community hot dog lunch will be offered each Thursday in June and July. Donations welcome. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius.
Blood Drive
Hosted by the Lake Norman Small Business Network and Community Blood Center of the Carolinas. 2-6:30 p.m. at Antiquity Town Center in Cornelius.
Officials from Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson discuss regionalism, communication among lake towns and transportation projects. Open to the public. 5:30 p.m. at Cornelius Town Hall.
Celebrity Bartending Fundraiser
Elected officials, business leaders and special guests ranging from Mrs. North Carolina to Panthers announcer Mick Mixon will duel for tips at this annual fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Charlotte. 5:30 p.m. at Alton’s Kitchen and Cocktails in Cornelius.
Show up and drum with our instruments or bring your own! Drinks and snacks available. 6-8 p.m. at Brick Row in Cornelius.
Paddlers of all abilities invited to explore the waters of Lake Norman at sunset. Ages 12 and up. 7-8:30 p.m. at Aloha Paddle Sports in Cornelius.
LangTree Live concerts are held every Thursday during the summer. 7-9 p.m. at LangTree Lake Norman in Mooresville.
Suicide Prevention Presentation
Davidson LifeLine presents “Suicide Prevention: We’re in This Together.” A panel of local mental health experts will cover topics such as depression, suicide, available resources, more. 7 p.m. at the Davidson College Presbyterian Church Congregation House.
Friday, June 15
Family Movie
Before you see the sequel, come for a free screening of “The Incredibles.” 2-4 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
Indoor fine art festival. Free and open to the public. June 15-17 at Merino’s Mill in Mooresville.
Live music every Friday and Saturday night throughout the summer. Shelley Ruffin and Soul Revival will perform 7-9 p.m. at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.
The Charlotte Symphony Orchestra will perform an outdoor concert with works by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Grieg and more. Free 8:15 p.m. at McGuire Nuclear Station in Huntersville.
Movies on Main
See “Space Jam” on the big screen. 8:45 p.m. on the Mooresville Town Hall lawn.
Saturday, June 16
Growers-only market featuring nearly 40 vendors with a variety of produce, plants, baked goods and specialty food items. 8 a.m.-noon in downtown Davidson.
The pier will be dedicated to the men and women of our armed services that protect our freedoms. 9 a.m. at Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius.

Trainers will put our native and exotic birds through their paces in free flight. 11 a.m. at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.

Learn about basic equipment and processes of making beer at home. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mooresville Public Library.

Sunday, June 17
A ranger will lead a hike along the Dragonfly Trail and discuss the native trees. 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman.
The Part Time Blues Band will perform at 6 p.m. on the Davidson Town Green.
Monday, June 18
Learn bridge or develop playing, bidding and defense skills. Open, stratified games are held 12:30-4 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays and 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays at Cornelius Town Hall.
Beyond Walls is Cornelius’s annual, award-winning exhibition. Open through January 31, 2019 at Robbins Park in Cornelius.

Maze Program
Kids in grades 3-5 invited for maze-themed stories and experiments. 2-3 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
Celebrate the release of Todd Gallicano’s “The Selkie of San Francisco” with a visit from the author, ice cream treats and prizes. 5-7 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.
Cruise-In
Bring your favorite car, truck or motorcycle to the Victory Lap Cruise-In featuring delicious food trucks, live music and raffle prizes. 6 p.m. at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville.
Wednesday, June 20
Teens invited to join us for a unique service project to earn community service hours while giving back to the city of Charlotte. 2-3:30 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
Hairspray
The Community School of Davidson Summerstock presents the hit musical about a dance-loving teen who becomes an overnight celebrity. June 20-24 at Community School of Davidson’s ArtSpace.

Kids’ Movie
Free screening of “Coco,” the story of an aspiring musician confronted with his family’s ancestral ban on music. 2-4 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.
A local storm expert will present information on how to prepare for natural disasters, how to respond to storms and flooding, what to do after a storm. Child care for children up to age 12.
