Oct. 27. Businessman David Dunn was looking for a way to celebrate the grand re-opening of LKN Car Wash on Catawba Avenue, but he wanted to do something for the community at the same time. He has donated nearly 70 free car washes to faculty and staff at Cornelius Elementary School.
“This was a significant and much-needed investment for us and I really wanted to celebrate the completion by involving members of the community,” said Dunn.
The new automatic wash set-up is valued at $100,000.
“With Cornelius Elementary being two blocks down the street I thought that these hard-working teachers and staff, who obviously drive by the wash every day, might enjoy a free wash,” Dunn said.
Dunn has made improvements to the car wash over the last two years, including leasing spaces to vendors.
