Nov. 12. Duke Energy is reporting high water and significant inflows due to the storm. They advise caution around flood-prone areas as they aggressively move water through the river system from Lookout Shoals Lake south to Mountain Island Lake and beyond. Lookout Shoals, which is just north of I-40, is spilling and will exceed 107 feet.
Mountain Island Lake will begin spilling by noon today; the lake will exceed 102 feet and could go higher.
Duke said lake residents should prepare for possible flooding conditions and closely monitor lake levels. High water conditions can create navigational hazards.
“We urge people living along lakes and rivers or in flood-prone areas to use caution, follow directions from emergency managers, pay close attention to changing weather and streamflow conditions and stay informed,” Duke officials said.
