Sept. 8. The Cornelius Historic Preservation Committee is holding a J.B.Cornelius look-alike contest Sept. 19 during the ‘Tawba Walk in downtown Cornelius. J.B. “Joe” Cornelius was the principal financial backer of the Stough-Cornelius Cotton Mill, Cornelius’ first mill, and the town was named in his honor. The contest winner will be announced at 5:30 pm on the main stage behind Town Hall.
There will be a guided walking tour of historic Cornelius at 6 pm starting at the Cornelius Veterans Monument at Rotary Plaza. It will last about an hour.
The Tawba Walk art crawl, held in May and September, starts at 2 and winds up at 8 pm.
