Oct. 5. Developer Jake Palillo is making 10 senior units near Birkdale Village available rent-free for six months for seniors who have lost their homes due to Tropical Storm Helene.

“I have the apartments ready to move in today, I need help finding the people that need housing and help furnishing them,” the Cornelius resident said.

Cameryn Elise Senior Apartments, a new project he developed, are unfurnished so Palillo is looking for help coordinating furniture and kitchen needs, including pots, pans and dishes.

“I can’t house everyone but if everyone does a little we can help all the people suffering from this,” he said.
